With weatherboard and internal linings using steel is whole lot easier because they are straight as and won’t warp or twist. It’s a good idea to batten out your cladding when it’s weatherboard. I received a quote for windows from China also, but noted they do no come with reveals so that’s something you might need to consider. I would like to read more about how the windows go. Good luck. Re: OB Farmhouse on 90acres, Yamba NSW. 5Mar 06, 2019 6:03 pm Thanks for the input. The weatherboard is a FC product rather than timber, so hopefully not so many issues there. I'm not a fan of steel frame and it doesnt appear there are many local contractors using it either. I did also have the issue of the windows not coming with timber reveals, and had first decided on the commercial style of subsill and angle for fixing the windows in place. But after discussions with my builder I am getting the windows with a 20mm fin that a timber reveal would fix to but instead fixing the fin direct to the timber framing and having square set gyprock windows, so no finish carpentry needed for architraves. All windows are coming with fiberglass flyscreens. Due to the drought this past year we have fortunately not had many mosquitoes which has been nice. Foundation piers poured in two weeks, I'll try keep this thread updated when I can. Re: OB Farmhouse on 90acres, Yamba NSW. 7Apr 25, 2019 6:24 pm I worked with the windows supplier for several times. They can come with reveal as extra option. But pay attention to the reveal depth as they wont understand your wall assembly details. A little bit tricky but you should be able to fix it with your builder. I am almost at lockup stage. Had the a builder and a labourer onsite for 6 weeks all up an i am surprised how quick it all went together. Have the two guys back on site when i return from work in a few weeks to finish the cladding and gyprock the internals. Also have the plumber onsite to start the Taylex AWTS. The windows worked out really well, ended up costing 17K into Brisbane and another 1.5k to deliver on a side loader to Yamba, had my uncle come over and visit for a week and we slowly put the windows in ourselves. One thing that did hold us up was YY had forgotten to include a fixture and once i emailed them about it, they immediately responded and put it on air freight and it arrived the following week. I cannot be more happy with their service and the quality of the windows and doors. I have attached a few progress pics.
