Stewie D BooY, you have probably been onto this site http://www.woodworkforums.com/f245 but this thread has some good ideas for woodies workshop setups. Strewie Yeh Stewie long time member of the woodworking forums, some of the guys there have some very nice setups in their sheds. Haven't been back out other than patrolling the piles of ambers that followed the burn off. Wont be able to get back out for a little while either due to work commitments that write off all of my time for the next month and a bit. new delivery arrived today to help future property progression. 1x new 170kg plate compacter. Hopefully when I eventually get a tractor/FEL it will help make the driveway and some pads for water tanks etc. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 64Feb 18, 2016 6:02 pm Ouch, that's damned pricey for chipping up just one pile... even pricey for the 3 piles. plate compactors... bought one of them myself, and at $50 to rent one of half a day, I've almost paid mine off. not as big as your one though. Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 65Apr 20, 2016 6:13 pm Been a while since I've posted anything, unfortunately due to work commitments I haven't been able to get much if anything done. The positive side is that those same work commitments paid for a new toy to play with to help in further progress over the comng weeks. Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 68Apr 28, 2016 3:29 pm You sound like you are very lucky to have gotten a piece of land that big where you are - congratulations! Fantastic progress on the shed, I was wondering what kind of insulation you used, and whether you would recommend it since it made you itchy?
Also did the firies charge you a fee for the burn-off? We have a similar situation at our place. Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 69Apr 28, 2016 5:59 pm Water Tank Pad almost complete, just need to put in a couple of straight edges and screed level. tank is ordered should be installed in june Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Keffufal You sound like you are very lucky to have gotten a piece of land that big where you are - congratulations! Fantastic progress on the shed, I was wondering what kind of insulation you used, and whether you would recommend it sicne it made you itchy? We used Bradfords Thermofoil for the wall and roof sarking and Knauf Earthwool R2.0 for the insulation bats. We still haven't completely finished all the lining in the shed yet, but yes I would highly recommend both products as the internal temp in the shed even without it finished is quite comfortable. As for the itchiness, all insulation bats are itchy to handle just wear long sleeve shirt, gloves, glasses, and a mask and its all good. Small amount of discomfort for future comfort is worth it all the way. Keffufal Also did the firies charge you a fee for the burn-off? We have a similar situation at our place. No, the fire burn off was free, although we were told they may be a donation required for them to do it when we first inquired about getting the burn off done. The fire permit generally is just for you to burn off yourself and they stipulate what requirements you need on hand. In our case when we put in the application for a fire permit we asked that they come and light it due to the size and the fact that we currently have no water on site. Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 72Apr 29, 2016 7:11 pm I would love to know what you used for the wall linings, and how you attached it to the steel frame? That's a big shed, I am wondering if it is bigger than my house is going to be! Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 73May 05, 2016 5:30 pm Trencher finally arrived today. forgot to take tools out to cut down the PTO shaft for it though, so no testing yet With it I can dig out the trenches for power and water for the shed. Looking at getting an earthworks place in to help finish off the fill for the 2nd shed, as once thats done i'll be able to sort out getting the sewage installed. We also went for a drive through the woods on sunday arvo looking for your place. Think we found it but wasn't sure haha Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 76May 10, 2016 9:25 am BooY bpratt Haven't seen a trencher like that one before... looks more like a post hole digger than a trencher...
