Does anyone know what the rules or regulations in VIC that you need to abide by to get temporary occupancy within a partially completed new house?
My understanding is sleeping facilities, functioning toilet (so for us that means commissioning the septic), cooking facilities (inc exhaust fan and splashback), sink (laundry sink is sufficient), working smoke detectors and the house generally safe (all pre-wired elecs terminated, any active elecs with sufficient coverage so that you cant reach the wires behind, all ramps and balustrading in place). But I could be horribly wrong.
Our 'plan' is to have a builder complete the build to lock up (complex slab and lots of steel plus I get warranty on the structure) and then take over to complete. We need to sell our current place to have sufficient funds to complete the build and have always known that we would need to rent or live in a caravan at some point during the fitout phase. However if we are allowed, we would do 2 bedrooms plus the shared ensuite between them, make the laundry the temporary kitchen and install the staircase and balustrading to the attic/media room, and then move in! (knowing full well DW is going to be uncomfortable with the amount of dust and noise even if she is saying 'no no it will be good fun')
Any info greatly appreciated.
