Here's one for those of you who are "smarter than the average bear".
I have a 10,000L water tank that is at the back of my property which is about 15m from the back door (over 2 rock retaining walls) and a drop of about 5m. The front yard rises about 5m from the house as well.
Currently the only way to access the water in the tank is to bucket-fill and then climb the stairs. Somehow I want to hook up at pump at the tank that will service a tap at the house as well as one at the tank.
Electricity will mean either a ditch of 600mm from the house to the tank through and around rock, or cable in steel piping all the way to the tank. Not too keen on either.
There's no wind, so a windmill is out of the question but I'm in Brisbane and thought a solar panel may be the go.
But the question is how many will be sufficient to power the pump and what sort of outlay am I to expect for such a project?
