Browse Forums Eco Living 1 Apr 07, 2009 11:32 am I am going to install the solar power. However, there seemed many companies selling and installing solar power system but I can't find much feedback on their quality. Among the companies I enquired, I only hear of Beacon Solar. But it seemed that there is not too much difference in price. Most use panels made in China (panels made in Japan are much pricey). Inverters they use are different, either made in Germany or Australia. Some companies provide 25 years warranty, some 20 years. Considering it is something I will use for a long time, I really want to know people's experience/opinions on which company provide better products in quality. Any feedbacks much appreciated! Thanks!! Re: Please recommend me a solar power company 3Apr 07, 2009 3:15 pm Try www.eco-kinetics.com they currently have a deal where you will get a 1KW system for the low price of $355.00 (basicly they get the gov rebate instead of you) however they have so much work on at the moment that installation is about 8-12 months after you submit all the paperwork. Why there is so much difference in price?? All the companies I enquiried asked for around 4000 dollars out of pocket. Oh, btw, I am in Melbourne. Re: Please recommend me a solar power company 6Apr 11, 2009 4:35 pm We've just had the grid connect (Sunnyboy) inverter installed by Eco-Kinetics this week. Panels (Conergy I'm told) will be next week. We were one of the lucky ones to get in on the Qld Govt incentive as well, so our total out of pocket expense for a 1kW system is $180. I'll let you know how it goes next week. All we need is some fine days then Don't forget, the Qld Govt also has a 44c feed in tarrif (about 3 times what we buy power for) so I'm very happy........so far! Ian I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken! It sounds very good!!!!I could I lived in Qld!Looking forward to your good news:) Re: Please recommend me a solar power company 8Apr 14, 2009 1:58 pm I have been doing a bit of research and found this company in SE Queensland and ACT. http://www.freesolar.com.au I have no association with them at all and it seems a great way to get a 1kw system for $0.00 dollars, other than your refundable deposit. Anyway people can decide for themselves I thought I would just pass on what I had found. Cheers Michael He wants a dream home theatre - she wants a dream kitchen! Re: Please recommend me a solar power company 9Apr 14, 2009 6:17 pm Michael, Sounds good. Hard to argue about $0 Just a few downsides. You need to join the "club" to receive a 20 year panel warranty. Most panels are offering a 25 year quantified (usually 80%) output warranty, so the 10 years with the panel seems odd. The "club" warranty is only as good as the re-seller company (ask the Kleenmaid clients about that). The club will set you back $1800. Also they require a $1499 deposit which is to be refunded once the system is installed. Others I've seen will fully fund the interim between install and rebate but.......I've not seen $0 before either Ian I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken! Re: Please recommend me a solar power company 11Apr 17, 2009 8:48 am Yak_Chat Why do you want to install solar? Why wouldnt you if the government is giving you a grant LOL. 1. Increase value of your house 2. Reduce Electricity usuage on your house thus saving money 3. Help the planet 4. Electricity Prices are only going up and up!!!! Question and i am sure many people feel like this why wouldnt you install solar panels. I would love to hear the reasons against. Re: Please recommend me a solar power company 12Apr 17, 2009 11:01 am I've been leafing through Choice magazine yesterday, while checking on the kitchen appliances and came upon an article on Solar Panels. In it they claim that the quality of panels from China can be very uneven and list only one producer there that's supposed to have uniformly good quality. According to them, the best quality panels come from USA. While at the Solar Fair in Perth recently, I've noticed a considerable difference in price between the companies offering panels of Chinese origins and those getting them from US and Japan. I guess that, like often with other things, you get what you pay for. Was that the only representation or just what you saw. 3 solar companies not a high turnout if it was. Cheers Michael He wants a dream home theatre - she wants a dream kitchen! As far as I saw, there were only three solar power companies in Melbourne's one, which was a bit disappointing. I was more inclined to choose beyondbuilding recommended by borg. Re: Please recommend me a solar power company 18Apr 17, 2009 5:00 pm paddy 3 solar companies not a high turnout if it was. Cheers Michael I wouldn't expect many more. Remember the rebate can only be achieved by accredited installers (not any sparkie can do it for you) and apart from the very successful solar homes rebates, there is currently the solar schools rebate as well. $50k per school, available to all schools tends to leave accredited installers a bit in short supply. Re: Please recommend me a solar power company 19Apr 17, 2009 6:29 pm Understand in what you are saying swanning it, but being a major home show I thought this would be where companies would be peddling their wares. Also with the rebate running out shortly surely you would want to hook in ( i mean capture ) the last of joe public that you could. But that is only my take on it. Yep, it's very strange! In that Solar Fair in Perth I've counted 7 outfits, spruiking their stuff.
