Hopefully Tesla will start dropping their prices sooner rather than later, and it will make it a no brainer. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. About fifteen years ago a good mate of mine lucked onto a job removing all the backup batteries from the big Mt White power station west of Sydney. They used a big bank of these batteries as backups for the computer systems driving the power station in case of erm... power outages. They had to replace them every 4 years but reckoned you'd get another 6-7 years out of them easily. They were all Hawker-Siddeley deep cycle batteries - great big things about 60-70kgs each. He sold them all to mates who either had small acreages like him who wanted solar power then a way of storing the generated electricity. I think he was flogging them off for $100 a throw which is probably 1/10th of what they were worth new. A lot of happy people out of that deal. They would have been ideal for you guys. I'm pretty sure they were 24v but I'm unsure of the amp/hrs etc although I could find out next week.
