my neighbour has a bore and instead of me putting another one down we have discussed sharing it.
he has it pump to a tank and so will i so its not like we would both be needing it at the same time.
whats a fair way to share the costs?
-its either pay half of everything...
but the bore has been there for about 5 years so if it fails soon after i would instantly be up for half the cost of fixing even though i barely used it.
if i payed half for the bore to be drilled then i might aswell pay for my own to be done.
if the costs were proportioned then it would be more suitable... but still could get messy..
then theres cost of electricity to run it etc. so unless its metered its up in the air...
-the only other option i can think of is pay for it per L
this would require a water meter and then just pay for what i use..
i think this would be less messy than the other option but a fair price would need to be worked out...
how would you work it out...? is the current rate charged for town supply a good figure?
if im going to be getting charge too much i might aswell put a bore down myself.
and if im not getting charged enough he wont be happy, especially if a few things need fixing...
i know alot might say just put your own down as its less hassles but were both reasonable men and get along quite well and it can benefit both of us so just looking for a fair price/L?
