Browse Forums Eco Living Re: Masterwall kooltherm cost 3Apr 13, 2015 3:58 pm I used a similar material to master wall, same concept, different brand names. We used Rockcote over EPS .With a Timber frame and R2.0 wall insulation, we have a R rating of around R4.5, maybe a bit more. I haven't done the final numbers. The cost for the master wall type install and render with all materials included was about $140/square metre. I think if I was in a position to shop around, I could have got this considerably cheaper, closer to $110. To compare...A double brick wall at as assumed cost of $1 per brick laid, before any rendering or painting, would be about $95-100/square metre alone and give you a R rating of R0.5. I think it would be a miracle to render and paint a brick wall for under $50/square metre. I've never looked into it because we do not have a single brick in our house. Then you still need to address any insulation issues which the master wall would give you in the costs. Personally, unless you want a brick look, I think people are crazy not to at least seriously consider an EPS or such product. We are very impressed with the performance. It is like living in a really big Esky . We face north and have all the ideal setup for passive solar, but went the other way of focusing on keeping outside weathers out, and insides temperature in. If we need to warm up inside the house with heat from outside, we simple open a window or two. Oh, our house is single story.. Re: Masterwall kooltherm cost 4Apr 15, 2015 7:10 pm I had a reply back from Masterwall and they have indicated that it would cost around $160m2 + gst. So my next question is how much m2 is double brick with plaster on the inside and render on the outside and then what would be the cost of brick veneer with a timber frame? If anyone knows then can they please tell me. Thanks Re: Masterwall kooltherm cost 5Apr 16, 2015 1:15 pm To go back to your opening question, you are going to struggle to find a definitive answer. Kooltherm or any other cladding is fixed over a timber frame and that is the price you have been given ( $160 per sq m ) once the walls are up. Double brick ( render on one side, white set plaster on the other ) on the other hand is both the structural wall and finished surface. To compare the two, or three if you count the brick veneer, you need to find out what the timber framed wall costs then add the cost of the cladding to it to do a reasonably comparative cost analysis. In saying all that though here is a guide http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www. ... nOKb1MeYaQ that you can at least compare what the overall price between clad timber framed, BV and DB. Stewie Re: Masterwall kooltherm cost 6Apr 16, 2015 8:39 pm I understand that they are separate elements and a double brick wall is a complete unit but I am just trying to break it down to workout the cost of each so I can get a true breakdown. I am currently looking at the price of truss vs stick wall and roof. 7 12028 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37160 Fair Trading can issue orders to rectify and complete but once the matter goes to NCAT these orders are automatically vacated.
