Maximum mains pressure is now mandated as a maximum of 500 kPa but many new houses are as low as 400 kPa. Why do you want mains pressure? pattycake4 would 25 litres per minute be ok for gardens. I take it that you are referring to the delivery flow rate at the end of the hose rather than the pump's flow rate as per its flow chart. To give you a guideline, the common garden sprinkler at the end of a standard length (15 metre) 12 mm garden hose attached to a mains water tap will flow at 18-20 litres per minute. Don't get confused by a pump's pressure, head and flow rate as per the pump's flow chart. When selecting the size and type of pump, you need to consider... How far from the tank will the pump be? What are the intended uses that the pump will need to satisfy? GARDENS Size of garden and distance from pump. Watering method...will it be hand held on/off constant watering or mainly a sprinkler? For 2 or 3 stories you should get professional advice as the higher the head the lower the flow. Some specialist pump suppliers may provide this technical advice for their customers.
