Browse Forums Eco Living 1 Apr 01, 2014 12:57 pm There was an interesting discussion on Life Matters (Radio National) this morning about housing and design. http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/pro ... er/5357346 One of the participants was from the ACT firm Jigsaw Housing. Their website looks very interesting and the fact that they are an architect/builder looks even more interesting. They mentioned an 8 star design for $200,000 if I heard correctly. http://www.jigsawhousing.com.au/team Re: Interesting building firm in ACT 2Apr 01, 2014 8:41 pm Thanks for this too Liliana. I found this discussion particularly interesting as we built a small home as a trade-off for better energy efficiency. The only problem was the professionals involved in our build used the star rating to argue that it needed to be a lot more expensive for, in the end, not much beyond orientation and a bit of extra insulation. I thought this would be a good lead for people in the ACT who sometimes find building there more expensive than in Sydney and also just so that anyone thinking of building small and energy efficient doesn't get bull-dozed into paying too much for the privilege. I also think firms that bring together designers and builders are probably more likely to get you a good outcome than the route we went. Re: Interesting building firm in ACT 5Apr 28, 2014 10:38 pm This is an interesting website. Looks like they are also into renovations and extensions which i think is timely since my friend is planning to do some extensions on their home. Thanks for the link Liliana. Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess.
