Originally we were going to build from scratch (and this is still our first option) but land in the area we want is pretty hard to come by. Our ideal home would be RBV, quite modern in design, built on a waffle pod with at least 8'6" ceilings.
We have found a lovely 40 acre block with a fairly new house but it is a typical concrete slab, brick veneer, aluminium windows. It is orientated roughly 5 - 7 degrees east of due north. The floor plan is not too bad, the existing bedrooms are on the south side (along with bathroom) and we would look at modifying the north side to extend the living areas and kitchen. My main worry however is the current slab. I have not renovated a concrete slab home before, only one built on stumps which was easy. Do you just remove the part of the slab and add on - can you combine a waffle pod under the new part? Are we asking for trouble even contemplating such a job?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
