We are with Origin Energy, and therefore get 66c per kwh. We had 12 solar panels installed back in March of this year (not sure of how powerful that is). They are on the westfacing side of the roof because they could not all fit on the north facing roof. We were told that if they put some on the north facing and some on the west facing, they would all only operate as efficiently as the weakest panel - so better to put them all together. I got my bill for the period 14 April to 12 July - this was the first full period bill that we had solar - and it came in at $40.94. Prior to the solar credits being credited to my account it was $333.60. Actual electricity charges for that period were $7.58 (the rest was gst and the gst is calculated on the whole of the bill prior to the solar credits being applied). My bill shows that the average cost per day to run my household is $0.46. I am very happy with that. I totally disagree with B Star who suggested that solar generated almost nothing in winter - it almost paid for the entirety of my bill. Admittedly, our household is one of 2 adults only and we are pretty energy conscious.
