KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 2Jun 05, 2011 9:17 pm after some serious researcch we went with Solar Mega Mart......I thought the price was competitive, they had good reviews, and there product is of good quality. Havent had them installed yet. That will happen on 15th of june. System was 1.9 kw for 4.5k, and the panels were canadian and the inverter was growatt, you can update inverter to suunyboy or other german one, cant remember, for an extra $600....they convinced me not too. They have been very easy to deal with. I'll let you know how it goes... Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 3Jun 05, 2011 9:48 pm Thanks for your reply But I dont think they service Perth But it would be good to hear how you go My building thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25279 NEARLY DONE. KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 4Jun 08, 2011 4:18 pm We went with Unltd Solar as they gave us a very professional and informative site assesment. Also they use SMA inverters and Suntech panels which are very good quality. Our consultant SOR was Jaimee her email is jaimeeb@solarunlimited.com.au. I think they are running a few deals at the moment to get people onto the 47c tariff which is garenteed for 10 years. Good luck Re: What solar company did you use? KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 6Jun 09, 2011 10:58 pm Jaimee was pretty good as she matched the solar system to our current and future usage. We ended up going for 12 panel system (2.28kw) with a 4kW inverter to expand later. This means we can get in on the 47cent FIT then add up to 12 more panel later when we can afford it. The pay back period was actually faster for a larger system as we only needed 8 panels to cover our usage! Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 7Jun 12, 2011 9:11 am I suggest you have a thorough read on the Whirlpool website under the Green Tech forum where there are many solar clients, many like you who want to be and a few installers who know their trade. It will take a while as I remember reading everything I could for a few weeks back in January. Finally deciding on the brand of panels and the inverter I wanted, then all I had to do was find a company I trusted enough (that eventually disappointed me) with a competitive price to install them The question you ask could see you being fed BS by company sales-stooges who prowl forums seeking sign-ups, so beware. Consensus on WP is to buy the biggest system you can afford and do it soon. Arfur Re: What solar company did you use? Thanks for that warning, we will tread with caution dont you worry Ya have looked at the whirlpool site, they all seem to be talking very big systems and I have no idea most of the time what they are talking about My building thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25279 NEARLY DONE. KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 9Jun 12, 2011 9:51 am OK it is a small learning curve. Look at your electricity bill and see the KWhs usage/day figure there. Then go to any half decent solar company website and see what size system covers your daily use, then see if you can afford it and go larger (best) or smaller. Example -- I use around 8Kwh/day and found I could afford a 3.04Kw system that averages out per day (over the year) around 12.6Kwh for $9600, back then. In winter my solar power generation will be a little under what I use, but the rest of the year it will be way above my usage and enough to pay my gas bill that is with the same company, and any $$$ that's left over will be sent to me by cheque in November each year. I wont confuse you further with feed in tariffs etc, that's up to you as it varies a lot in each State Arfur Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 10Jun 12, 2011 10:38 am ya see mine is 14kw per day and that sound like I need a reallllly big one which there is no way we can afford My building thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25279 NEARLY DONE. KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 11Jun 13, 2011 6:02 am OK Why not go for a system (for example) like mine, as my cousin has done to make a fair dent in his power bills, that's why I said go for the biggest you can afford. Little systems really aren't much value in this respect and most folk I know who have them are now realising their mistake. Arfur Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 12Jun 13, 2011 11:27 am Have a look at your meter in the morning and at night to get an idea of how much power is used during the day (daylight hours). The best value system for the lowest price will be one that at least covers your daily power usage. Its not untill you start exporting power that you start helping to pay your system off. Or he/she can do as I suggested and get his last 4 bills and take the average Kwh/day from them, saving an enormous amount of time and effort. Quote: The best value system for the lowest price will be one that at least covers your daily power usage. Not quite correct. The 'lowest price' will see him/her with possibly the cheapest panels and unreliable inverter, remembering you only get what you pay for. Arfur Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 15Jun 14, 2011 11:51 pm By 'lowest price' I didn't mean go for a cheap nasty panel/inverter. I meant that will give you an idea of the smallest system that will give any decent chance of a payback period. Like i said in previous posts, i we went for suntech/sma. I wouldnt go for any other inverter than sma. Other good panels i researched were hyundai, Qcell and sharp. Just watch sunpower as they are expensive and not compatible with other panels. Something to do with the earthing. Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 16Jun 15, 2011 1:26 am Quote: i we went for suntech/sma. We've been told they aren't any more by several solar companies who also had other brands. ( just incase someone tells you that) Re: What solar company did you use? Perth 19Jun 25, 2011 3:48 pm Our builder is using mysolar. we are going to have a 3kw inverter, and 8 pannels. we will add more pannels later using another company (i know you need to be careful to make sure they are the same type/brand)
mum had a system put in by "a women's spark". If I had the choice, i would use a womans spark because their customer service is great, and they spend the time to answer the silly little questions.
