An option when buying our block was to get "free" landscaping for the front yard, which includes a 2000 litre water tank that will be connected to an irrigation system. We could have gone for the other option - $6000 off the price of the block - but we're lazy gardeners and at least the front yard will be organised for us.
Now we are looking at another tank with the builder, or to go for a solar hot water system. The builder's tank would be plumbed into the cisterns throughout the house, which is tempting, of course. But the solar hot water....well, the temptation speak for itself there. I guess we could get the developer's tank plumbed into the cisterns should we wish to do that.
Should we opt for the solar hot water or the second water tank? We don't use a lot of hot water as it is but perhaps it would be a better idea to get the solar for the water.
