Browse Forums Eco Living 1 Oct 13, 2010 9:24 am What are the pros and cons of 70mm diameter evacuated tubes vs 100mm tubes? The obvious benefit of the bigger tubes is efficiency in size. If I look at the specs of a particular brand, we have a 20 tube collector @ 70mm tube diam, 1900 x 1900 in size, producing 1,580 kwh per year. A 16 tube collector, 100mm diam, 2150 x 1960 in size, returns 2,100 kwh per year (according to their figures). So for an almost identical piece of roof real estate the bigger tubes get you about 25% extra energy per year. Are there any down sides though? The only ones I can see are a slightly heavier collector - although nothing that would require extra construction - and presumably they would be more expensive. In reality it is a bit of a moot point because of the companies I have found that supply systems with 100m tubes none have replied to my [multiple] enquiries. But nonetheless I am still curious. Dear Members I have to decide the Facade column size. My custom builder standard is 350mm with rendering, but i asked for 470mm plus stone or tiles and yet to get… 0 7496 All sorted guys.
