Browse Forums Eco Living 1 Oct 04, 2010 1:39 pm Hi, I'd be interested in any recommendations and indicative pricing to install an underground water tank in the NE suburbs of Melbourne: * 22,000 litres (thinking of precast concrete) * In the back yard * Landscaping over the top of the tank (probably a lawn) - we recognise the need for a manhole cover I'd also welcome any comments or considerations that people may have in relation to the above plan! Thanks, Dave Re: Underground Water Tank 2Oct 04, 2010 4:41 pm My neighbors getting one early next year. I think its $18k all up including the tank (22000lt as you said) You can drive a 6 tonne truck over it and park a car on it every day up to 3 tonnes. Depend a lot on your site access too his is going in the front yard as block slopes back to front. Re: Underground Water Tank 3Oct 05, 2010 12:08 pm We got a 10,000L installed for $8,500. The things you need to be aware of: * Put it at least as far away from your house as deep as the hole goes * Ensure there is a one way valve in the base to stop the tank floating if the water table rises. Ours is currently just sitting in the ground so we are waiting for the house to be finished before any further plumbing is done. I know this company is in Brisbane, but just thought I'd share for the options out there. http://www.bbtanks.com.au/feature_water_tank ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ 18 74679 From what I know about water tanks (I've been working with a client on them for a few years now) is this - The concrete can last a lifetime if they don't crack for some… 2 6475 If you can calculate the reasonable charged head from let's say 100mm below the gutter to the top of where the vertical riser's horizontal discharge pipe will be, that… 11 14439 |
