Browse Forums Eco Living 1 Sep 23, 2010 7:02 pm I got a tank as part of my build but thinking I want a 2nd one so I can water the plants as much as I like. The question is what's the trick to hooking in the 2nd one? The only thing I could come up with was: 1. Attach as hose fitting to tank 2 and face this toward tank 1. 2. Pump all water out of tank 1 into tank 2 3. Attach fitting to tank 1 and punch hole. 4. Joing fitting to tap on tank 2. 5. Turn on tap on tank 2...now tanks should equalise to have 1/2 of any water quantity in each. Any help on easier methods that don't involve emptying tank 1 would be greatly appreciated Built Liberty 42 - Handover 26th Feb 2010 forum thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17243 Re: How to hook in a 2nd tank? 2Sep 24, 2010 7:36 pm Provided the tanks are on the same level at the base and the same height at the top it is easiest to turn off the outlet from tank 1, connect in a joining line to tank 2 with a tee, turn both tanks back on and they will equalise. Drawback is that you will not be able to empty tank 1 and lower it when you want to clean the tank. This of course depends on the size of the tanks anyway. Re: How to hook in a 2nd tank? 4Oct 02, 2010 10:30 am Hi Nightshade, if there is an isolating valve, turn it off and add the necessary plumbing to connect the second tank and then turn it back on to equalise the water level in the two tanks. If there is currently no isolating valve on your first tank you will have to do what you have described and maybe take this opportunity to fit one. There is a method for throwing water from one tank to another using compressed air, but it's not a simple task, it requires a few accessories that even the average plumber wouldn't own. When the first tank is full it will then start to fill the 2nd tank. Because you will get settling in the first tank this way means 95% of the dirt will stay in the first tank so only one lot of cleaning The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
