Browse Forums Eco Living 1 Sep 13, 2010 12:01 am Hello, We are thinking of including a 5000 litres rainwater tank for our new house, connected to one toilet and washing machine. I'm interested to hear from other people who have similar size tank in this part of the world and whether it is worth doing. I know that 5000 l is not very big but by connecting it to the house I'm hoping to be able to use water when we have it most - in winter. I've seen combos tank and pump for less than $2,000. You also then get $500 government rebate. I've been told that the extra pipping required is fairly cheap if done upfront. And for us the tank would be very close to the toilets/washing machine. I know you need to install a pump as well. Is that to pump the rainwater to the toilet/washing machine or to top up the tank when it's empty? Any advice on rainwater tank is welcome. Thanks.
