Browse Forums Eco Living 1 Jun 23, 2010 8:39 am Hi, i have been looking into solar panels and have come across a company called ecovation. they use ceeg 185w panels and cms-2000 inverter. does anyone have any opinions about this company and the products the install. also could anyone give an indication as to what kw a day i would likely to produce with 8 of these panels on a north facing roof on the gold coast. I have also come across the company energy matters who install solarfun panels 190w with a sma sb1700 inverter. or solar made easy use chromagen panels with an aerosharp inverter. too many products to choose from. each are saying that they have been around for awhile and they all appear on the clean energy council accreditation list except for the chromagen panels. please could anyone offer advice on these products. it would be greatly appreciated. Re: solar panels 2Jul 13, 2010 6:57 am Hi I am seriously considering taking ecovation up on their offer. $3800 for a 2kw systems. Please if anyone has an opinion please let me know. i have gone throught the other posts and can't find anything about this company Re: solar panels 3Aug 01, 2010 8:14 pm To be honest, I would be very wary. I just searched ecovation and I think they are one of these fly by night companies who pop up and then disappear just as quick. The price does sound good - too good to be true and I suspect if you have problems down the track, no one will be there to chase up. We paid about $8000 for 2kw and have the Japanese Kaneka made thin film panels which perform better in zone 3. We recently doubled our system and generate approx 20kw a day. I think solar is the same as anything, you get what you pay for. We went with a reputable company who we think will be around should we have a problem down the track. cheers, Michelle Building in remote, regional Vic We have roof, frame, walls, plumbing, electrical....but no bricks! A solar installation is a technical processes. It's not just banging panels on your roof and a inverter into your meter. There are approvals and work requests that need to be properly submitted to energy distributors and retailers and I can tell you that if they don't do this properly, your solar system is as good as useless. A system with a larger, more reputable company may cost you more in the short term, but as a wise man once said, the sweet taste of low prices doesn't last as long as the bitter taste of a job done badly! ~W~ Building our forever home - Lilium Estate Clyde - Land due May 2019 Built our first home - Pakenham - 2011 Re: solar panels 6Jul 02, 2012 6:52 pm Hi, I used Ecovation for my solar system (a 2.66Kw Sytem with a 3.66Kw Inverter)and was unhappy that the unit wasn't putting out what it should have. I complained for almost six months without any Joy. The company wouldn't even send out a technician to check it. I finally paid to have an extra 6 panels install taking my panels to 3.66Kw. This made no difference to the output of the inverter. The installer took the inverter away to get repaired or replaced. That was ten weeks ago. I finally put it in the hands of the office of fair trading who finally got some action to get a new unit fitted. I am no looking at suing them for compensation. I wouldn't recommend this company to anybody for anything their backup service doesn't exist. They would be the most inept company I have ever dealt with. Hope this helps with anybody looking at solar sytems. Re: solar panels 7Aug 21, 2012 12:12 pm I thought the Solar Shop had gone broke, however for anything on solar I strongly suggest the Whirlpool Forum (apologies to Homeone) under Green Tech where I spent several days researching before buying my system. I chose the brand of panels and inverter I wanted then set about finding a reputable installation company. This is where things went awry unfortunately, but my system is working well now and returning me around 18% on my $10K investment The best advice I received was to get the biggest system I could afford Arfur Hello - we were hoping to apply laminate click lock panels to our concrete ceiling, but not too sure how to go about attaching the panels to the concrete.
