Browse Forums Eco Living 1 Jul 16, 2009 8:25 am I've done a quick search in the forums and could only find reference to the solar hot water rebate, so I hope I'm not repeating things here. But I wanted to ask help for other forums members who have built regarding rebates. As far as I've worked out;I live in Queensland and: Solar hot water - not eligible for federal grant as not replacing an existing EWS and no state grant Insulation - not eligible as it's a new home Water tank & plumbing - not eligible as it's a new home Grey water - can get the $500 rebate if we install in an existing home. Solar rebate - $8000 ended 30 June 2009, not sure if it's worth looking into it anymore. So, since we get the $7,000 extra FHOG for building a new house instead of buying an existing house; it's cost us $6500 for the water tank and plumbing $2500 for batts to external walls and ceilings and foil to walls so basically that money has gone. We're looking at a grey water system at about $800, less the grant; but then not including plumbing etc. Then there's recycling, worm farms & growing our own veges - anything else? Have I missed anything. As with most people we don't have unlimited funds, but would like to make a difference where we can. Skin Re: Rebates and building a new home 2Jul 18, 2009 7:45 am Depending onyour supplier and whether or not they claim the recs and deduct it from the total of your HWS, but if you use either a solar or heat pump you can claim the RECS (renewable energy credits). Currently valued at about $34 per point (but can change at any time), your heat pumps have about 27 to 30 points. Possumchops Now the proud owner of 3.7acres of Serenity. Colour selection completed!
