I've heard some fantastic reviews about these speakers, does anyone know where in Australia I can get these online?

Re: B&W 685 Theatre Speakers 4Sep 26, 2008 12:21 pm If you want the same level of high end quality for a significantly smaller amount of money, you might want to consider these:
http://www.mordauntshort.com/content.php?COID=23 They also review very, very well (and I can vouch for them considering I have a pair of 902i's in one room and a pair of 916i's in another, and the clarity and detail from these babies is truly high end). Re: B&W 685 Theatre Speakers 6Nov 16, 2008 1:24 pm I must say those speakers look chunky...I prefer the small ones with the powerful sound. Its just my opinion well my theatre(yet to be completed) has no space for those ones I guess.
But that brand looks new, I have never heard of it before. And if you did buy them in Australia where did you find it? do they have a showroom? Re: B&W 685 Theatre Speakers 7Nov 16, 2008 2:46 pm Hey Sacha1390.
Unless some new technology comes along that changes this simple fact, you cannot get a big and powerful sound from small speakers (depending on your definition of either). Given that they are made about as well as they can be you can get a reasonable sound and perhaps even a reasonable amount of volume from small satelite speakers - if you are in a reasonably small space (one of the biggest reasons Bose Lifestyle systems gave people a good option - 20 years ago - is because these people had spaces that were too small for conventional speakers...). But if you want to fill a decent sized space with a quality, fat and powerful sound then the little sub/sat systems are simply not big enough. Re: B&W 685 Theatre Speakers 8Nov 16, 2008 3:10 pm Hi Rodda. I will a post a picture of my rumpus room some time later but for now I would say it's 6m X 4m. Not that big. So I guess there is only space for a sub and wall-mountable speakers. That would be the best. Yes the big ones are always powerful but I want the speakers to be small yet with big sound.
I've seen few yamaha ones....are they any good. Plus they're cheap. Im happy to spend up to $1.5k. Ah just came to think those golf ball sized speakers by sony..haha. They're extreamely small. Re: B&W 685 Theatre Speakers 9Nov 17, 2008 8:47 am Yep, and those Sony speakers have a small sound to match.
Decent sized wall-mountable speakers are OK. Have you thought about flush-mounted In-wall speakers? Pretty good option... Re: B&W 685 Theatre Speakers 10Nov 17, 2008 9:42 am I have Yamaha EF Series 7.1 system... Fronts are NS-555
http://www.yamahamusic.com.au/products/ ... series.asp Really good sound, I am running them through a Yamaha 863 AMP. Will all go in my miniture 4.2mx3m theatre room in my new house so you would certainly have enough room for floor standing speakers. Re: B&W 685 Theatre Speakers 11Nov 17, 2008 12:41 pm I don't know probably there is space for those monsters in my house..I will see.
And those speakers look great. How much did you get them for? it doesnt say on the site and plus the watts? Re: B&W 685 Theatre Speakers 12Nov 17, 2008 12:55 pm Sacha1390 I don't know probably there is space for those monsters in my house..I will see. And those speakers look great. How much did you get them for? it doesnt say on the site and plus the watts? I'm not sure what the street price is. I got them very cheap under 2k for amp, 7 speakers and subwoofer (relative works at Yamaha). Retail for everything I bought was $4500 but no one pays retail these days. I have all my old speakers on ebay which are still very good... Ends tonight at 8pm... do an advanced search under my seller ID of wakeboardandy13 if you are interested.. |
