Has anyone here done it before? How do you find it? useful or just waste of money? Re: Ceiling speaker in kitchen? 2Sep 16, 2008 8:11 pm I LIKE that idea! I'm guessing you could do it post handover, but may be easier to have them do it...?
As for whether or not it's useful, I guess that depends on just how much you would use it....how much cooking you'd do???! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Ceiling speaker in kitchen? 3Sep 16, 2008 8:18 pm Hi!
I just put speaker cables on the ceeling on frame stage. I'm sure - It's better to do this before hand over. How this will be working - I will see. I don't expect something fabulous in regards to the sound quality (just 2 x 2way 8" speakers - around 50W each (150W on the factory label ). http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storefrontprofiles/DeluxeSFItemDetail.aspx?sid=1&sfid=74520&c=99289&i=232953047 (Anyway - good place for cables and accesories) I just put them on the kitchen and alfresco area ceeling . Will be working with 2 zones amplifier/tuner - should be enough for TV and background music. Goodluck! Arek Don't worry. Be Happy! In-Ceiling speakers in the kitchen are not a bad idea, or in any room really, if you enjoy listening to background music while doing whatever you do in that room (eg. listening to the radio while cooking...). With In-Ceiling or In-Wall speakers at least they are out of the way - not taking up any floor/bench space - and often not seen (or at least noticed) at all. You then also have a choice as to how intrusive, or not, the components that drive and control these speakers are. For In-Ceiling or In-Wall speakers, if you can, you should get the speaker wire installed during frame stage of construction, but the rest should be no difficult after you move in.
