If they don't, then it would be very difficult to test the network during the pre-completion inspection because nothing has been connected yet. I would have thought that smart wiring would not any different from water or gas wiring, such that whoever doing the wiring should at least tested whether water/gas flows and comes out okay to ensure that they had done the job correctly. It would be good to hear from anyone who had being through the process of completion with a builder where the builder also included smart wiring in their contract. Thanks very much!! Re: Smart Wiring House in Telstra Velocity Estate 57Jun 11, 2010 12:06 pm Comparing water and gas to smartwiring is not the best way to put it ncc1701d. Personally smartwiring is the biggest 'con' in the industry to this date. Everyone is looking to have some form of smart wiring put through there house but to me i have never seen wires as to being 'smart.' Its the devices that you are connecting to with the wires that should be classifed as having the intelligence to doing the job you are after. In terms of wiring up your house to do basic networking with cat6 there really be no real problem in doing this its as simple as setting up your network router/modem and have the cable locations coming back to a network switch. But Starserve personally i'd be running the other direction. Re: Smart Wiring House in Telstra Velocity Estate 58Jun 12, 2010 6:38 pm i think the people who did your wiring will have wirings basically hanging outside where the ont is suppose to go, when telstra come and install the ont, they connect those wires and bang you should be up and running (thats what i have read so far). also from speaking to telstra, they will install the ont and psu once you have ordered a service such as your telephone, bigpond or foxtel. otherwise for telstra it'll be pointless putting an ont as no services have been installed. ---------------------------------------------------- Living the dream.... yeap a mortgage... Smart Wiring Australia would have been able to meet your requirements for about $1,500 When reviewing the quotes I'd suggest you look out whether they are installing a hub and if so what kind. Hope this helps, if you need any further information I suggest you contact Smart Wiring Australia smartwiringaustralia.com.au 1300 881 810 Regards Nathan are you sure ? you havent even finished the job on my property and everything still messy. Re: Smart Wiring House in Telstra Velocity Estate 60Nov 12, 2010 5:36 pm We are in Harrisons View in Laurimar, our speeds are between 39 and 52 mbps. We have spent countless hours on the phone to Telstra and have even been told we are getting great speeds!!!! we were told we would have at least 100, but are now being told that only 70 is guaranteed. I can't remember seeing that advertised anywhere. Three hours of phone calls today and a different answer everytime, not happy at all. Monday they are going to test the pit at the front of the house, they have said if they get it up to 70 that is all they have to do. We are on the hightest plan, but that means absolutely nothing. We know of others in the area that are getting up to 139 which would be great. We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
