Hey guys
Following on from my other thread, we have decided to place a TV in a niche in the wall of one of our bedrooms. We need to first ask the builder if they will make the wall thicker - currently it is 90mm wide and then place a niche in.
We only have one plasma at the moment, so don't have exact measurements for our TV, but a quick search of LG, Samsung, Sony websites I have come to the generalisation that most 42inch plasmas are about 95mm in depth without stands and about 320mm deep with the stand.
I think we will most likely just keep the TV with the stand so I am now needing to determine measurements to tell the builder. I need to know:
1) How deep we want the niche to be - I'm think 350mm would be sufficient? Maybe a bit more???
2) How wide would the niche be? We will most likely put a 42 inch (106) in this niche, nothing bigger anyway. So I'm thinking of getting it about 110cm in width....
3) How heigh off the floor would we want it? This one is confusing me, I have no real clue..the sofa will be about 2m from the screen, maybe a bit less....Any tips here?
We were just going to put a powercord and tv point in one of the bottom corners in the niche, would we need to leave much extra space by way of depth for the cords? I'm thinking that if the actualy TV is only about 95mm deep, but with the stand it is about 316mm deep then if I leave the depth of the niche at about 350mm I should have plenty of room for the cord?
Any help would be great guys
Cheers
