Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Sep 28, 2015 6:30 pm Hi Everyone, First post here after stumbling across this forum searching for home theatre setups on google. We are about 2 months off starting our build and have modified the home theatre a bit to make it more theatre like. We are going to get a riser put in by the builder which was going to be 150mm high and 1800mm deep and the whole 4m width of the room, We were also going to get sound insulation in the walls and ceiling and soundcheck plaster board. The sales consultant we were originally dealing with said that it would be fine for my electrician to go in before the sheets were hung to run all data, electrical and speaker cabling. He has since left and now we have been informed there is no way in hell we will be given access to do this.. So the conundrum is do i bother with the above listed modifications which are going to cost me $3100 or should i just put standard plaster in and rip it out after hand over to run all the cabling and install the insulation and build my own risers? I have run cabling before but never in walls with insulation so not sure how hard this is to do. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
