Im looking into using this system instead of whisper/quiet clips with normal furring channel. The resilient channel system seems alot easier to install, only have to screw into the oneside and fix into joist. Looking at the resilient channel, it looks very similiar to normal furring channel but missing an edge. So I was wondering, can I make my own resilient channel by using normal furring channel and just tinsnip one side off? Will this work just as well as proper resilient channel? Reason for this extra work is due to proper resilient channels costing twice as much as furring channel but looks very similar.
