Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 May 12, 2008 5:10 pm Hi Guys,
I have been given a couple of wall plates to use in my home theatre setup to connect my HTPC to my amp. Trouble is I don't really understand or know what the connection is. The product is a Neotech 4 speaker wall plate with the following description from the website: NWP84 NEO W/PLATE 8XGOLD BANANA SOCKETS 2 fronts + 2 rears. This allows the connection of four speakers with the use of banana plugs. General to all models: • Use Neotech NC124 or NC122 banana plugs to match outlook and quality. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd191/McReidy23/NWP84.jpg Can you guys tell me what connectors I would need to connect the amp & speakers to this? I thought they were standard RCA connectors but they are a screw on job . The packet says "connections are either push together or screw terminations". Sorry for the daft question Re: Speaker Wall Plates 2May 12, 2008 5:14 pm unscrew them and you will see a hole appear
put the cable in the hole and screw them back down red is positive black is negative Re: Speaker Wall Plates 3May 12, 2008 5:15 pm Re: Speaker Wall Plates 5May 12, 2008 6:20 pm I've seen that before somewhere.... I'll be putting similar plates on our HT when we move in, along with some HDMI plates. That's me being slack & not organising a sparky to move the power point before Matt did the fitout My Blog... http://ahouseonthehill.blogspot.com/ Re: Speaker Wall Plates 9Jun 18, 2008 1:24 pm hmm I do not like the idea of having an actual connector on the wall plate, they tend to become noisy and become "lossy" after a while, sure very convienient though.
I used HPM 2000 series blank plates, marked out the holes I needed, inserted rubber grommets then had the cables pass through. I then terminated the end of the cables for both A & V. Looks very neat and was easy to do. Just a thought. Re: Speaker Wall Plates 10Jun 18, 2008 1:31 pm And the wires are hanging out of the wall? What happens if you move the equipment to another part of the room or wherever?
I used RCA's on wall plates for my audio stuff, one plug per speaker cable pair, just a bit of soldering making RCA leads. TV is all 'F' type. I used RCA's on wall plates for my audio stuff, one plug per speaker cable pair, just a bit of soldering making RCA leads. TV is all 'F' type. it is apurpose built HT room with an overhead projector and fixed screen. I really do not think I will be moving equipment around. As for cables hanging out of the wall as opposed to plugged into the wall ... When we sell the place I simply tuck cables into wall cavity and put a blank 2000 series faceplate on. new owners can do with the cables what they will, I really won't give a toss at that stage. Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 1327 Evening, Had my 3 month maintance done on my new place.
