Our needs:
- Speaker points (Alfresco, Pool, Living, Dining, Kitchen, Bed1, Ensuite)
Home theater - 7.1 with projector
TV points (Alfresco, Living, Bed 1, theatre) - all with their own speakers
Inputs to AV (Foxtel, HTPC, Xbox, Free to air TV)
Data points around the house
Ideally control the following:
- Music distribution
AV to 4 TVs
Aircon (Actron air)
Front door system (electric strike)
Blinds
security system
Security video system
Not worried about lighting at this stage. I'll be looking to add that later down the track (I have conduit running to all the light switches).
I'd like to control everything though our ipad & iphones.
Our house is double brick but single storey.
I'd rather have a wired solution than wireless.
Thoughts so far:
After a fair bit of research online, I'm thinking of going with Control4. It looks easy to use and very capable. I note that it needs to be programmed by an installer which is annoying as I'd like to do it myself.
HDBaseT 4*4 matrix or 8*8 matrix to send the AV to the various TV outlets.
I'm not sure if cBus can do the AV distribution.
Does anyone have experience with Control4? I can't see much experience in Australia, let alone WA.
Keen to hear your thoughts. What are you choosing, or what have you already installed and what works well?
