I don't understand "Smart Wiring". All threads about it on this forum seem to get really complicated and I get lost.
Our new house has fibre to the premises so I would have thought our needs would be one data point for a smart TV/foxtel access (we have one TV), and one data point somewhere centrally in the house for our wireless router for fibre internet, and perhaps a phone point centrally for the home phone. Why would I need more than that?
Currently our internet goes to a wireless router which obviously then connects to various computers/tablets/printers around the home. Why do people say to get "data" points in every room? What would be the purpose of that? Surely the future is tablets and laptops so connections will mostly be wireless anyway?
Also stupidest question of all - what actually is meant by a "data point"? Is it optical fibre? LAN? "Cable"??
