Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 May 30, 2013 11:01 pm Hi all, Have been reading the forums for awhile and now we are about to start building. We currently have a theater room that is 5.2 x 3.5wide will contain 2 layers of soundcheck plasterboard all round with soundscreen in the walls. We are also looking at adding door seals as well. A/C and heating will be handled by a split system. Issue is we're a little concerned about CO2 build up in a sealed room so are looking for any suggestions on a way to add some air flow without reducing the soundproofing too much. The room sides onto a garage and pantry. Are there any products out in Australia that we can use to vent air but also contain baffles to absorb the sound? Thanks Re: Ventilation in soundproofed room 2Jun 02, 2013 10:33 pm Hi ice32, That going to be tough. CO2 is not a massive consideration here in Aus like it is overseas. (Not playing down the risk, merely stating that it is often overlooked) That might be a product best located in Canada or some of the cooler US states? I decided to put a centrifugal fan at the top of my equipment cupboard, venting into the bedroom above -- sucks the warm air out of the cupboard through the HT room, and the cupboard becomes the baffle. Using a centrifugal fan means you can run it for long periods and it's not as noisy as typical fans (from memory it's a called a "minibox"). Venting into either the pantry or garage sounds pretty doable, in your case.
