Matt/Rod,
For our new house, I intend to join the jet age and finally get a plasma TV. Panasonic is the brand that I prefer at this stage, of the 50" full HD variety. But thats where the big dollars will end.
My current home theatre setup consists of a Denon AVR-1602, Wharfedale Delta 30.2 main speakers, Sony 10" subby and Sherwood centre and rear speakers (I used to have a Sherwood receiver before it died). It's in a smaller room than what we'll be getting which will measure 5.4m x 4.6m. However I'm not interested in window rattlin', teeth jarrin', bone crunchin' noise, rather something that will give me a simple but quality surround sound effect. Hence I won't be spending megabucks on speaker cable either.
What I am very tempted to do is to buy the Panasonic Veira Link receiver/speaker package with the new telly. It's only a 5.1 setup that separately retails for around $700. To me it makes a lot of sense to package up a TV and home theatre of the same brand name together, but is a $700 system like this good enough? Or will my old equipment perform just as well?
Thanks in advance.
