Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Mar 28, 2013 9:51 pm hi guys I am currently building a house and am looking at decking out my purpose built home theater room. I have absolutely no idea about home theaters, speakers, amplifiers etc. My requirements: The home theater room is 6m long by 4m wide. I also have an alfresco area to which I need some external speakers. The alfresco is 4m wide by 6m long. I have a separate living area which will house an LED TV to which I want the alfresco speakers to replicate what is played on the TV, only when I want it to (ie. not all the time). The alfresco speakers and living area shall be independant of the home theater. I've decided on this projector for the home theater: http://www.benq.com.au/product/projecto ... ifications I've been into JB and seen this system: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/home-theatre/y ... sku-90041/ For $1500, you get the outside speakers and what looks like a pretty powerful home theater system. This seems too good to be true? I'm guessing I cannot hook the alfresco speakers directly to the LED TV (unless you want them on all the time?), so another amplifier will be required in the living room area. I prefer not to have an amplifier here, as the TV will be wall hung and additional hardware will look crap. Can anyone recommend any alternative systems or comment on the JB Hifi system? Re: Home entertainment setup 3Apr 01, 2013 2:57 am The only issue I would have with that amp is that the Zone A and B must be same source when using simuletaneously. I have been looking at the Denon AVR2113 which can play from a separate source however, I am pretty sure it can only use analogue sources for zone 2. http://www.videopro.com.au/p-5241-denon-avr2113bk-black-av-receiver.aspx You would have to buy speakers separately. I am going to use in ceiling speakers in my outdoor area. (Thinking about using them in the media room too). Re: Home entertainment setup 4Apr 01, 2013 7:44 pm Pretty sure that's the same amp we have (Yamaha RX-V671), bought from JB, we bought the package below but upgraded the receiver because I wanted network access. We paid way less than $1500, but no doubt our speakers are weaker for it. The receiver does exactly what I wanted, I'm no audiophile so may not be the best judge, but for my usage it's great. We use it with a Windows media centre as well as iPod/iPad inputs. Outputs to an old Panasonic plasma (7 year old 42") and we use it as 3.1 rather than 5.1. Happy to answer any specific questions if you need. Cheers, Dim We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds.
