The cablers have been through my house and as usual, they've scribbled all over the concrete slab with the locations of data points, e.g.:
2D @1100 for a double data point socket at 1100mm.
That's all good, but there are two marks that I haven't been able to figure out.
At one end of the house is labelled "SCAM1 in ceiling" and the other end of the house is "SCAM2 in ceiling".
What is SCAM? The arrow appears to point to a small coil of CAT-5e cable that isn't connected to anything. There is tape wrapped around the floating end of the cable with "SCAM" written in texta.
Best I can guess is that maybe the S in SCAM is 'spare'? The question is would it terminate at the patch panel or is SCAM1 and SCAM2 the two ends of the same cable?
Googling for SCAM and electrical is useless as it results in discussions on tradies poor work etc. Our site supervisor didn't know what it was. I can't open the data cabinet as I don't have a key to see if it terminates on the patch panel.
Hopefully a cabler can let me know what it's for.
