Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Oct 19, 2012 2:06 am .Hey Attached is the plan iam looking at for my home. As you can see the home theatre is 4.2x3.5m, Iam looking at having 2 rows of seats my main question is which way should he seats go? facing the 3.5 wall or the 4.2 wall? Also will a room of this dimension what would be the best ceiling height? Last thing is I was looking at have a double sided gas fireplace in the wall that connect between the Home theatre and the living room. Is this an option for the Home theatre and can I still make it sound proof? The glass would be pretty think on the fireplace. Any input would be great. Use cavity sliders so when they are open they dont use valuable room space. I would place couches where the doors are now and look torwards the exterior wall (or vice versa) I am not sure that you really have room for 2 rows of couches given each will need around 1.5m (and thats tight imo - I am allowing 1.8m) - this will mean that the second couch will start only 2.7m away from the screen so the people in that couch will be very close. This will limit your screensize fairly dramatically i think. I dont think you can get 2 rows in the other way. Cheers Re: Ques on home theatre design 3Oct 19, 2012 11:17 am Cavity sliders are about the worst door to install if you are concerned about sound insulation. ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Ques on home theatre design 5Oct 25, 2012 4:27 pm Yes, I am with the opinions mentioned on here, change the doors and I would not install cavity sliders. They also seem a little old fashion... I think you will struggle with 2 rows of seating. What screen size are you looking at? Re: Ques on home theatre design 6Oct 29, 2012 10:34 am Definitely use the longer length of the room as the viewing wall. As previously pointed out, it would be better off having the doors on the side towards the screen end - living/dining room entry. This would allow the seating to fit in without the doors being in the way. Possibly a 110" screen will suit. For two rows of seating I would put a raised floor at the back of the room to accomodate a 4 seater couch and have two single recliners on the floor in fron of the couch at the left & right. Yeah i dont like cavity doors that must so might save room but think they are ugly. Asha i do like the seating idea. i think it back to the drawing board for me. Re: Ques on home theatre design 10Nov 01, 2012 2:52 pm The room is 5070 x 4600 as I explained on the other thread, we chose to have the screen running along the long wall, because I didnt want the big sofa blocking off the windows. The stage is 1600 deep. Perfect for the sofa and there is no problem reclining the chairs either. Re: Ques on home theatre design 11Dec 10, 2012 9:57 pm I came across a spreadsheet titled "Room Dimensions Calculator" that helps plan room sizes so you get the best chance at I assume the correct audio mix. S/sheet was prepared by Terry Montlick Labs. After reading this I am uncertain as to doors and also whether I should have a lower ceiling height from 2700. So much to ponder.
