However the sound of lossless music for most people played through standard HiFi gear is imperceptible from that played straight from a CD/DVD. There are of course those of us that have high end systems and very good ears ( I lose out on both counts here - or is that hear ) that demand something better and can tell the difference. To rip your fave songs onto a hard drive and play it through iTunes or something else in a truly lossless format means that you are going to chew through your empty hard drive space very quickly so be prepared to get a couple of 4TB drives if you have a large collection.
