Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Aug 13, 2012 3:16 pm Hello,
I'm thinking of having 'Carpet' for the floor covering in my home theatre room since it can help with acoustical properties of the room. So when selecting a carpet do I need specifically select a softer one like Open loop fibre or would any carpet work fine ? ( The reason to ask the question is there are two types called Open loop and closed loop. Closes Loop is not as softer to the touch as the Open loop carpet types). Just wondering if it has any impact on the sound quality / acoustics in the room ? Since this is a dedicated theatre room I need to maximize the acoustical properties for better sound. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks Re: Flooring for the home theatre room ? 2Aug 13, 2012 3:35 pm Acoustically you should always go for the thickest/densest material - wall, ceiling, ground, etc. But it just doesnt stop there.. I am sure there are some better carpets for acoustics (wool over synthetic) but honestly I would think the difference to be negligible.
