Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Jul 27, 2012 10:38 am Hi, We have been settled with the house and now looking to setup my home theater. My room size is 5m in length and 4m in width. I know there are calculators for measuring the right screen size, but I am looking to hear from the people who has experience instead of looking to some maths. 1. My question is what is the biggest size of screen I can put for my viewing distance? which aspect ratio is best? 2. Any recommended projectors? I have seen some benq and epsons are in sale recently, Is it good to have one with the 3D or i should get a FHD projector now and when the 3D technology get updated in may be 3-4 years time get a 3D projector? I watch lots of movies, but still dont know how many 3D movies i will watch as my current TV doesnt have 3D, also I am watching bluray rips, not a big fan to go and hire the bluray disks. Re: What size of projector screen for my room and projector 2Aug 01, 2012 8:18 pm Hi urk697, Based on those dimensions I would recommend a 110" screen if you want the big screen experience. Bigger than that is possible, eg. 120", but it does get to the point where your eyes will get too tired to watch as your eyes are darting all around the screen. As for aspect ration 16:9 all the way - Unless you only watch movies only in which case you may consider anamorphic with a lens but this costs a LOT more. There is a good range of projectors available out there but it all depends on your budget. Th e3D in today's projectors is fine and you are not paying extra for it. Hope that helps? Cheers, Matt Re: What size of projector screen for my room and projector 3Aug 02, 2012 3:12 pm urk697, I would have to agree with Matt, I would go with a 120" screen if I was positioned at the very back of the room but would go a 110" screen if I was more in the middle of the room. The epson EH-TW6000 or 5900 are good choices that are 3D capable and full HD. 16:9 will accommodate all viewing tastes.
