Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Jun 19, 2012 12:47 pm Hoping some advice. Build has just started and I am in the process of getting all the gear together for my Media room. Once the frame goes up I have the opportunity to do the pre-wire for my speakers. My receiver is a Yamaha rx-v2071 and will be utilising the 9.2 channels. 7.2 in the Media room and 2.0 as a seperate zone in the outdoor alfresco area. My question is that I have bought a 7.2 double gang wallplate from http://www.selby.com.au/7-2-home-theatr ... 1144b.html and am interested in how I am supposed to mount it pre-plaster.. Is it just a matter of placing two stud bracket mounts? Or is there a different solution? You can install after the plaster is up using two C clips or a Clipsal 154/2 bracket - you should be able to order one of these at any electrical wholesaler. Paul Re: Mounting a double gang wallplate 5Jun 19, 2012 4:18 pm I think clipsal make a double bracket, ask at your local electrical wholesaler, if they have one they should have no problems letting you try it on for size in the shop so take the plate with you! Or you could nail a standard plate in and then use a plaster bracket for the other side, the ones that look like a C! 2 Mounting a double gang wallplate 6Jun 19, 2012 4:42 pm I wouldn't recommend installing a standard bracket because it isn't open at the top like a C clip, so it will foul the connectors on the back of the plate. Installing a bracket after plaster isn't a big deal - just mark the location and height of the cable on your slab with crayon. Paul Thanks for the advice Paul - I think I will go with the dual C clips. Now to hope that the plasterer doesnt stuff things up. Re: Mounting a double gang wallplate 8Jun 20, 2012 9:15 pm Take note of all your measurements, and take a photo when your done, 9 times out of 10 you will return to a wall of plaster! Although sometimes the plaster does pull the cables through! It might help to tape them together, all though with a double hole like that it should be easy to fish the cables out!! Re: Mounting a double gang wallplate 9Jul 13, 2012 11:19 pm The double c clips will work but it is hard to install. There is no great way of doing it but with a wallplate like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There is no real need to fix it with anything other than a few plaster screws. Its not like you are pulling on the plate regularly and therefore 4 well placed screws will do the job just fine! Cheers, Matt Update from me!
