Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Apr 11, 2012 2:23 pm we are currently at timber and bricks having been delivered, and are sitting around the slab stage. currently in the other house we run a laptop (with a 2TB external HD) into our 70 inch and watch movies this way in the lounge room...we also have austar. in the bedroom we have a small lcd 32 with a cheapo bluray/dvd player that has a usb slot and i just transfer a movie over to a stick and we watch it that way. we are wondering that when the frames go up, what cable to run (before gyprock goes over) to achieve the following: we want to be able to watch anything from the laptop thats in the lounge, in the bedroom we also want to be able to watch and change channels on austar in the bedroom. we are thinking that we could run some wiring and tuck it in the wall cavity and when we get the keys on hand over day we can then locate and hook something up down the track once all the other things inside the house are done that we have to do (tiling etc) we arent sure if we need wiring or dongles or what!? running some decent wiring 'just in case' it comes in handy down the track prob wouldnt be a bad thing any ideas or suggestions even in setting up something better than a laptop system we are currently running all and sundry welcome to comment and all advice is greatly appreciated cheers Re: Pre Wiring in Advance at Frame Stage for TV/Movies etc 2Apr 11, 2012 3:09 pm It will depend on your builder and what they'll let you do at frame stage. I was open with them about wanting to run extra wiring, they weren't keen as I wasn't licensed etc etc... but they did let me run a heap of draw wires through the noggins/beams and fit the wal plates to the beams. The plasterer then knocked the holes in for the wall plates I'd fitted, the sparky left them alone when he did his bit and I was ble to buy the cableing I wanted in 100mtr rolls and add what I wanted after handover. Just the way it is. 1 5613 We've had the offer of a short term tenant whilst waiting for CDC/DA home approval and demolition for our knock down rebuild. It would achieve a pretty low rent as it's… 0 9884 Just to makea point about this, an approach that some people have found sucessful in negotiating these rises down, Is to provide some workings to the builder, specifying… 4 64870 |
