Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Mar 09, 2012 3:36 pm hi, just wondering if anyone out there can help me as im definitely no handyman/electrician etc. i will try and give as much info as i can and hopefully anyone with knowledge in the area or has been through the process recently can help me out. we want to mount a 60 inch plasma tv to the wall in our living room. on our electrical plans we have noted for the tv point and power point to be 1600mm up the wall. we will be having a lowline entertainment unit under it for the dvd player...foxtel...playstation 3 etc....and also want the cables to be hidden behind the wall. so the main questions i guess are, do we need to ask our builder to put in extra support/noggins etc to hold a 60 inch plasma? is this costly etc... also how do we go about hiding the cables, is this easy? we have an electrician mate so is that who does it etc? and is bracket type a big issue..lots of varietys etc? we want the tv as close to the wall as possible? what cost are we looking at all up? any help would be great thanks. Re: wall mounted plasma/hidden cables 2Mar 09, 2012 3:53 pm More noggins wouldn't hurt but most brackets have adjustable widths so they can go directly into the studs. Hiding the cables needs a bit more thought. But to finish you need a few of these around - http://www.4cabling.com.au/products/Bul ... The reason for running up is that later you may decide to run a media centre and you can bring your data or hdmi down a wall cavity. Also in the not too distant future all of our content will be coming in via data. I rarely use rf anymore and when I do its recorded on the pc for viewing when I'm ready. It basically consisted of two wall plate brackets (tv height and normal lowline unit height) which were then plastered over...we have the heights though so we can just knock holes through once we get the big tv. He also put a nice fat piece of conduit through the noggin so we could easily drop the cables down from the top to the bottom when we install it. Brilliantly easy to do at frame stage and will save us alot of headaches when we've won the lottery and bought a new TV! Hello everyone, I have a question regarding moving a chandelier after it has been mounted. The chandelier in question is quite large, measuring 4 meters… 0 72331 Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 5141 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16105 |
