Now then he said make sure you use shielded a mandatory must with all the crap in the roof. So then I looked around and did a bit of reading Decided to go with Cat 5e Stranded Shielded (STP) or Foiled (FTP) but definately shielded. Does shielded and unshielded make that myuch of difference? Does Foiled cable make a big difference? Want to run Foxtel multiplex and patch panel to all over the house. Regards Cabling your house - What Cable to chose? Stranded cable is used for patch leads. Solid core is used in walls etc. You should get Cat 6 cable installed by a registered data caller and terminated onto a patch panel/wall plates. You can then use this cabling for Internet, telephone or video using converters. I wouldn't bother with shielded cable. Cable that is correctly installed by a cabler shouldn't be close enough to 240v cable to pick up any noise. Paul Re: Cabling your house - What Cable to chose? Based on speeds available now and in the near future either would be suitable in my opinion. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15887 If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8289 Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive). Would require a mini… 13 39469 |
