Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation Re: NBN- National Broadband Network Compliant Requirements 22Dec 19, 2012 3:32 am I have a quick question in the NBN if anyone is still watching this topic. We are building in waterford county, chisholm (near newcastle), which is an opticom estate (providing fibre optic to the home etc), whilst having paid to have this installed and my house wired up as part of the developer requirements, i have just received a pcv from my builder saying they want $680 to also wire the house up for NBN. Why would i want NBN after having opticom already installed in my estate, and soon to be in my house? Is my builder just trying to shonk me in to giving them more money? Has anyone else encountered anything similar, because in my opinion, why on earth would i pay to have my house wired up for NBN when i have a better alternative already being installed (which i had to as part of my estate). Re: NBN- National Broadband Network Compliant Requirements 23Dec 19, 2012 6:34 am I reckon they are having a lend of you. What would normally happen is when someone else has fibred up an estate NBN ISP's do a deal with them to provide the service over that infrastructure rather than NBN provided infrastructure, saves duplicating valuable infrastructure. And for new estates this is exactly how the Government etc wants it to work.
