Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Nov 27, 2011 10:07 pm Is there an industry specific Legally Binding Contract Template Document that I could use to impose on my data cabler before he starts work? (I haven't asked my data cabler, nor Whirlpool). You see, I have found a data cabler to do the structured wiring for my house currently being built. His quote came out to be approx $7.5K (lots of CAT6, RG6, a 9RU cabinet, and security system). Since the cost is quite substantial, I was thinking that my engagement should be made formal with the data cabler through a legally binding contract. If there's no such industry specific legally binding contract document, could I then just simply type up a bunch of sentences in MS Word saying "the data cabler shall do this and that, blah" ? If so, would that be considered legally binding, assuming that both parties have physically signed the document? 13-08 Moved in 13-05 Build restart 13-04 VMIA compensation 12-08 Builder liquidation 12-03 Fixing 11-12 Lockup 11-11 Frame 11-09 Slab 11-09 Start 11-07 Contract 10-11 2K deposit 10-06 Titled land Re: Imposing a Legally binding contract with a Data Cabler 2Nov 27, 2011 10:51 pm To create a legally binding contract is alot more complex than a template. There are too many individual considerations. In industry we use either Australian Standard AS2987-1987 General Conditions of Contract for the Supply of Equipment with or without Installation (my preference), but some builders will try and impose AS2124 Condiitons of contract. If you are serious about writing a legally binding contract get a copy of AS2987. Re: Imposing a Legally binding contract with a Data Cabler 3Nov 28, 2011 7:04 am $7.5k isn't alot.... for me agreeing to the quote is you the client agreeing also to my conditions.
