Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Oct 16, 2011 12:28 pm Hi All, I am looking at the design of the home theater and have seen a product that I would like to know if anyone has experience with it. On paper it looks pretty good and in the showroom it doesn't look that bad. It is a black metal ceiling with small perforations in it and a small corrugation. I was mainly thinking it is probably the easiest way to get a black ceiling which should be good for ht. Let me know your thoughts. Re: Coruline Perforated Acoustic Ceiling for Home Theater 3Oct 17, 2011 10:09 am Hi Rod, http://www.heafod.com.au/pdfs/ACS%20cor ... ochure.pdf I have seen this in WA at the CSR place (where they sell Gyprock). I guess it would potentially be better than the standard ceiling material as it is not flat, its perforated and black. They guys there say that it is used in music auditoriums and the like. I thought it was an interesting product and it was not actually that expensive as I recall it was only about 1,000 bucks. I'm not sure about that product - I think it's aimed at/designed for much larger spaces than a domestic room, and the 'acoustic' info on the brochure doesn't clear much up about what effect it actually has. I still think getting some foam acoustic panels produce a much clearer result - they can be obtained in a few different colours and can even be arranged in patterns. I personally intend to not cover the whole wall(s)/ceiling but put a few in some strategic locations and in some sort of appealing pattern - to be honest you want to cut down a fair bit of internal reflection but not all of it (a completely dead room would actually sound a bit weird...). Re: Coruline Perforated Acoustic Ceiling for Home Theater 5Nov 24, 2011 9:37 am I get where you are coming from and I will also be putting some wall treatments and traps in the corners. The biggest main advantage of the ceiling was that it is black (no need to convince wife as thats what it is) and the corregations will give lots of different reflections. It wont totally deaden the room I dont think. The other thing I have made sure is that the room dimensions are good to start with so we dont have bad accoustics. I guess I will see............... Something I meant to include in my previous post: I'm also a bit concerned with the fact that it's metal - again, my view is that if I wanted a material that reduced acoustic reflections I'd be thinking of something other than metal... perhaps it's just me and my rigid thinking Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7921 Unless the room is for storage then it's non compliant BCA V2 2019 S3 P3.8 You have 2 options 1.
