Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Jan 31, 2008 1:11 pm We have been doing a great deal of research into projectors and screens for our theatre room. The front runner at the moment is the Mitsubishi HC6000 1080P HD LCD Projector and the IP Morgan Galleria 'Novares' 92" screen. Has anyone got these products or have any feedback regarding them? Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 2Feb 01, 2008 7:26 am Hi mate. Been to see the Big Picture People recently?
Both are good products. My only criticism would be that you can go with a diffrent brand for each to get the same level of quality and performance for less money. Have you checked out the Epson TW1000 (if you really want LCD over DLP)? What about Screen Technics screens? They are of the same high level of design and build quality (made in Sydney, vs LP Morgan made in Preston VIC), but cost significantly less. Are you settled on an LCD projector (do you have a restriction in your room regarding the projector's throw distance?)? In our (both Matt and I) opinion we strongly believe DLP gives a better picture than LCD, and the new BenQ W5000 has just hit our shores and you can get one of those for <$4K! Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 3Feb 01, 2008 11:21 am Hi Rodda,
Yes we checked out the 'Big Picture People' and were highly impressed by both the products I mentioned. Top dollar I know - which is why we are doing so much research. We are also looking at the 'Infocus' projector, but it's not released until later this month. I will check out the BenQ and Epson you have mentioned. Thanks Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 4Mar 13, 2008 11:25 am We bought the mitsubishi projector and it was fantastic...that is until it decided it didn't want to work anymore....after just 3 weeks and only doing approx 20hrs!! Not happy. Now its at the repair shop...has been for a week now!! Something to think about if you are thinking of purchasing this product!! Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 5Mar 13, 2008 2:29 pm Hi mate.
Those guys at BPP must have presented you with a really good case to go with them and the products they recommended. I've heard stories that they rubbish BenQ like their livelyhoods depended on it, which is quite strange considering BenQ have never had any issues in the past (bad press, history of bad product(s), etc.), in fact many of the top technical writers in the industry tend to like the brand quite a lot. Sorry to hear you've had an issue with yours so soon. How is BPP's after-sales service? P.S. for anyone wondering - I've had my BenQ PE7700 at home for nearly two years now (which means it's probably had the equivalent of more than three years use ![]() Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 6Mar 14, 2008 10:13 am BPP didn't need to present a case to us as we just had to watch the performace of the projector and that sold it for us. We did our own research on the internet and asked around a couple of stores before we purchased. Like I said we were really happy with the product until one day it wouldn't turn on anymore. Its the after purchase service that is so disappointing. The product is brand new and obviously faulty and yet we are the ones inconvenienced. You ring both BPP and Mitsubishi and all they do is say how unlucky you are and here is a phone number for a recommended repairer. Anyone think I am being unreasonable to expect the product to be replaced immediately and they can repair it in their own time???? Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 7Mar 14, 2008 10:16 am After 3 weeks with a product of that nature and expense, I would expect a brand new one from the retailer no questions asked! The RETAILER does have an obligation to you, not just to fob you off to the reccomended repairer after that short a time. Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 8Mar 14, 2008 10:21 am Hey Jac08, sorry to hear about your projector!
What are the terms of Mitsubishi's warranty, is there a replacement option within a certain timeframe? Did they offer or did you ask for a replacement projector while your was being repaired??? Have they given you any indication of a time frame for the return of your unit? Sorry with all the questions. We will be buying a projector in coming months but will be going with the Benq W10000... I'd be fuming mad if something similar happened to us.....I hope it it resolved quickly and to your satisfaction though!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 9Mar 14, 2008 10:46 am Good thinking I will pull out the warranty and try and decipher the terms and conditions. We spent a lot of money on this projector AND we purchased a screen as well and yet you are treated like this (not that it should matter how much you spend but we certainly aren't rich and this was a huge extravagence for us!!). Certainly opens your eyes!!
Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 10Mar 14, 2008 11:05 am ![]() Good thinking I will pull out the warranty and try and cipher the terms and conditions. It sounds silly but you would NOT believe how difficult it is to get in contact with both BPP and Mitsubishi. BPP don't want to know us (we didn't get them to install it) and Mitsubishi is like talking to the banks...you are on hold forever and get transferred around! Last night we sent a couple of emails to Mitsubishi so will wait and see if we get a response. Next option will have to be Consumer Affairs I guess?? We spent a lot of money on this projector AND we purchased a screen as well and yet you are treated like this (not that it should matter how much you spend but we certainly aren't rich and this was a huge extravagence for us!!). Certainly opens your eyes!! Good on you Jac08!!!! Stand your ground!!!! I'd go down to the BPP where you bought your projector - tonight, when they are busy and raise your voice to the Manager!!!! The potential clients will hear and the Manager won't like that either!!! Do Mitsubishi have a complaints phone number or is it just the customer service dept you're speaking to? Regardless of what you paid for the projector, you EXPECT to get value for money!!!!! Whether it was $10, 000, $5,000 OR $5.00!!!!! The same principal applies!!!! (BTW i'm sure you didn't pay $5!!! ![]() I'm still waiting for my phone call back from the BPP after spending an hour and a half with their sales guy in the showroom at Knox!!!! They were going to call me when one of the new models came in....to come down and "experience it". We were told we'd be contacted in another week or so...That was about 2 months ago!!!! ![]() ![]() Go get 'em Jac08!!!!! ![]() ![]() Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 11Mar 14, 2008 12:47 pm Jac,
Ask about a DOA policy. Benq have one that if the unit (or globe) faults in the first month it is replaced with a brand new unit the next day. They also provide a replacement unit whilst yours in in for repair too! Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 13Mar 14, 2008 3:44 pm Good to hear Jac08!!!
Hope they repair your original unit and return it to you a.s.a.p!!!! ![]() ![]() Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 14Mar 14, 2008 3:56 pm I've seen the Mitsubishi in action at the Big Picture People in Cheltenham, and it is lovely. Does anyone know where I can see a BenQ W10000 running? Re: Mitsubishi Projector & Novares Screen 15Mar 14, 2008 4:34 pm Yes!
I am authorised Benq agent in Melbourne and I have a W10000 displayed! Feel free to PM me for details You have no photo with your post. Best I can say is to remove an A&L flyscreen don't be afraid to distort the frame almost like a trapezium. It doesn't take a lot of… 1 3021 ![]() 2 1067 |
