Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Jan 17, 2011 10:05 pm Hi Everyone, We're going to be at lock-up with our new house in the next couple of weeks and was wondering if this was the right time to be thinking about getting the roof aerial installed or whether it is normal to leave this until handover? Also if anyone could recommend an aerial installer for Western Sydney (Penrith area) and advise of an approximate cost for installation (we have 5 TV points) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Aerial Installation - When should we do this? 2Jan 17, 2011 10:27 pm We had ours installed the day we moved in. We also had our bedroom plasma wall mounted. We have 7 points that were pre wired, plus the amplifier, and all up it was just over $400 but we are in melb so can't help with a contact sorry. I have used jims antennas before though and they are perfectionists! 131546 Re: Aerial Installation - When should we do this? 4Aug 03, 2011 8:19 pm Not sure about Sydney but jim's are a franchise. I would recommend http://www.melbournetvantennas.com.au in Melbourne. and http://www.perthtvaerials.com.au in Perth. They offer a 10 year warranty and pensioner discounts. How can you recommend someone in Perth if you are in Melbourne ? Did you use their service in Perth ? Or the same drives/flies between Melbourne and Perth to install antennas ? This. If you're able to. We ran about 20 extra wall plates with draw wires going up through the timbers tied off into the ceiling before the plaster went on. Re: Aerial Installation - When should we do this? 8Aug 26, 2011 7:37 pm Hi IQtech I used Melbourne TV Antennas/Home Theatre to install my Antenna in Melbourne and they also own Perth TV Aerials that's why i mentioned Perth also. Regards David Re: Aerial Installation - When should we do this? 9Aug 28, 2011 8:53 am Much easier to do when scaffolding is up and there is no plaster on the walls. It should cost you less also. my house blog: http://sugarloafdrivebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Aerial Installation - When should we do this? 10Aug 28, 2011 9:17 am Do it before pre gyprock if you can, I ran cabling to ~20 points before the gyprock went up but forgot the roof antenna to central control hub feed. What would have taken 10 minutes pre gyprock took over two hours and a heap of swearing afterwards Re: Aerial Installation - When should we do this? 11Sep 01, 2011 3:11 pm Hi IQ tech and David K, Newbie here. I used the people David K recomends and they were pretty good. I have used them twice. Once to get an old antenna swapped over and again to get more tv points put in. I originally wanted the first person who did the installation to come out as he was nice and I do not really like strangers in my house. They told me he is the owner and now lives in Perth, which might explain why they own both urls. A different man came out to do the tv points and he was nice too. I have not had any problems with my reception or anything like that since. Re: Aerial Installation - When should we do this? 12Sep 01, 2011 8:37 pm hannahc I have used them twice. Hi Marko The best thing to do is to have a look at your contract and see how the variation clause is worded. We use the NSW Fair trading contract and the way that is… 1 5074 I need to replace the worn mohair seal on my sliding window, but I can't get access to the end to slide the old one out & push the new one in.
