When I signed they mentioned the electrician specialises in security system... Anyway there's powerpoint to the alarm box now, but need to check the phone line. Re: Ness alarm question update question help please. 7Sep 19, 2011 6:18 am gelatiii Update, builder says the phone connection is inside the control panel...is what they're telling me the truth? Quite possibly, but if you don't have a beige box at the side of your house marked "Network Terminating Device", then it doesn't comply with regulations. Without a Network Terminating Device, and assuming that your alarm panel has been installed with the appropriate 'mode-3' socket (This allows the alarm to grab the phone line and disconnect the other phones in the house in the event of an alarm) your alarm is the 'first socket'. The regulations require that the home owner is able to access the first socket without the use of a tool. Having the phone connection inside the panel is more secure and is OK as long as there is a Network Terminating Device Paul Re: Ness alarm question update question help please. 8Sep 19, 2011 11:49 am paulw11 gelatiii Update, builder says the phone connection is inside the control panel...is what they're telling me the truth? The network boundary still needs to be established; This could be an NTD or at the first socket as with traditional PSTN.
