Considered Light Boxes for your theatre???

I'm looking to get a couple of these for the back wall of our theatre....
They are light boxes that fit the actual movie posters in....

I have some film strips and other memorabilia to go on the walls, but want to go a step further...yeah, yeah... probably crazy i know, but i think they'd look awesome!!!

Has anyone got any in their theatre or home, any idea on where i can get some???

Thanks Mish, I've found them in the US on ebay, absolutely love them, but nothing here!!!
Something a bit different hey????

Grrrrrrrrrrrr........I'm sure they're available somewhere in Oz???

Must do more homework on that one..... :roll:

Main number is Queensland but there is a mobile number given for Melbourne. Hopefully there's a store or distributor down here somewhere you can check out.

Almost any decent signwriter will do them as well.

My brother-in-law owns a sign business, and he's constantly doing lightboxes for all sorts of applications (he's in Sydney though).

......hence why I suggested any decent signwriter should be able to sort one out - it's not worth trying to freight one interstate. :wink:

You should be abe to find a local sign place via the yellow pages & a few phone calls.

Quite coincidental really, I was looking into some of these only last week. I came across some Dolby Digital DS posters (DS=double sided = made for light boxes):

... and then started looking into the prices of light boxes. I too saw the ones on eBay. Basically they tend to go from $300 to $700, depending on a few things...

Then I saw these web pages:

... so I am currently not sure which way I'd go.

Thanks Rod, LOL, these theatre nuts ..... I don't know??? LOL :roll:

I've been thinking about building them too, since they are looking a bit expensive. Interesting one uses fluro's and the other the rope lights?
I was thinking LED, providing the option to dim them when required....I am also looking to have them hard wired in so that there are no cables to be seen....

Oh well...another "want" to add to MY list....

Well, solved my problem....

Picked up some light boxes from Village Cinema's this evening....the cinema was closing down and i invited Rod down to grab some with us.....

They look like this:

Not to everyone's taste mind you, but they are official light boxes....

Now just have to source the blockbuster posters to go inside... oh and to have the theatre to put them in!!!!!

Rod and I are VERY HAPPY..... :lol:

Many doctors are getting rid of their light boxes these days as digital images become more common.

You can find x-ray light boxes at many auctions, unless they have been smart and sent them overseas to poorer countries.

And poor old kermit - well he discovered some bad news via a light box one day :shock:
