I had to buy a new foxtel cable and they wanted almost $200 to post one to me. I was sure I'd be able to get it cheaper elsewhere. Stopped in at D!ck Smith and sure enough they were much cheaper at $60. I didn't bother looking anywhere else, I figured I already saved myself $140 so I was happy Success is the result of good judgment, good judgment is the result of experience, and experience is often the result of bad judgment! I am really happy with this write up Sir Snagger Good to see someone writing something useful! just cler this up for me...what is HDMI with Ethernet? (I understand the HDMI part, but are they dual purpose or something?) This means that the cable is also capable of transferring the internet through it. A HDMI cable is many things now: - Transfers high quality uncompressed digital audio and video signals - Sends the sound back from your TV to your amp (used to need a seperate cable) - Transfers ethernet (intenet) between devices - Sends electronics pulses for communication between devices (CEC) Amongst other things! Re: Need a HDMI Cable? ... read this first! 10Jul 16, 2011 10:49 am mattwalker It is reinforcing everything I have said for the last 6 years - just because it costs more doesn't mean it is necessarily better. Same goes for windows, and adding it may even cost less and be better... Well done Matt... Re: Need a HDMI Cable? ... read this first! 14Sep 20, 2011 3:24 pm The HDMI cables at The Cable Connection are cheaper and every bit as good if not better than what I saw on the EzyHD site... Re: Need a HDMI Cable? ... read this first! 15Apr 19, 2012 11:35 am A further HDMI issue... There have been reports on some electronics service sites of EXPENSIVE HDMI cables actually causing problems & reducing the quality of video. The problem was with extra thick "monster" style cables which it is thought may have too much capacitance. In the cases given, fitting a cheaper cable solved the problem. Apparently it is a hit & miss situation whether such a cable will cause a problem even with two supposedly identical signal sources & TVs. One may work fine & the other won't. Regards, Brian. Re: Need a HDMI Cable? ... read this first! 16Jul 14, 2012 12:43 am Hi Brian, It is a balance getting it all right. Lucky for me I don't have this "Monster" of an issue!
