That's a really important factor to remember.
The differences between the 2 are minor and relate to transmission characteristics that make no real difference in residential applications. http://www.cat-5-cable-company.com/faq- ... cat5e.html The second image you have posted seems to just be electrical cable, not data cable. Re: What types of cables are these? 4Jul 10, 2011 7:03 pm Cat 5e stands for 'cat 5 enhanced', which is not capable of the same speeds as cat6. If you have paid for cat6 cables, get onto your builder and advise them that they have installed cat5e instead of cat6. Info is from my hubby who is a licensed data cabler. So depending on the speed of the equipment your running, you may not notice any difference between cat5e and cat6. However, if you paid for cat6 as an upgrade I'd advise your builder. If you have paid for Cat6, get them to run it. Re: What types of cables are these? 7Jul 11, 2011 2:08 pm The bottom line is that you just didn't get cat6 as asked for. There is a difference in price, so get on to them about it! That said - if you paid for Cat6 you should definately have it. Re: What types of cables are these? 10Jul 23, 2011 5:25 pm The differences are mainly to do with transmission quality. CAT5e will have no probems running 1000BASE-T in a residential application (bothways, as there are seperate send a receive pairs, and it's a full-duplex connection) Re: What types of cables are these? 11Jul 23, 2011 7:25 pm Who cares if Cat5e is good enough!!! You paid for Cat6 and that is what must be used! I bet the builder charged more to upgrade to Cat6!!!!!
